Art Workshops with Acclaimed Artist Sam Sirdofsky
Lynn's Lavender can't believe our good fortune. Acclaimed artist, Sam Sirdofsky will be teaching a series of Workshops in our Garden & Gift Shop Warehouse Barn. Sam promises she'll take you outside to be inspired by the gardens, lavender beds, drying shed, greenhouse, chickens, orchids, picnic areas, and of course the Garden & Gift shop. Be sure to pack a lunch or snack if it's an all day workshop--to enjoy under the trees in the picnic area or down by the pond.
Of course, the big question for some of you is: Who is Sam Sirdofsky anyway? Well, read on:
At 10, Sam blushed her way through life drawing at the California College of the Arts. She learned all she could about printing while working on her BA and MA at San Francisco Academy of Art on a full scholarship. She went on to build a freelance design and book illustration career with 80 plus clients including Wells Fargo, Spice Islands, Grosset & Dunlap, Macmillan, The Doors, Asimov and Disney--all from home in Sonoma County.
Attempting retirement, she switched to painting for fun. You can find her happy works at Russian River Art Gallery on Main Street in Guerneville, and the Artisan's Gallery in Bodega. Or drive to the Marin Humane Society in Novato to see her huge outdoor high fire mosaic Mural in the parking lot on Bel Marin Keys Blvd.
This minute, Sam is embarking on a storyboard for an international film company, and illustrating yet another childrens's book. (She acknowledges her workaholic nature, even in "retirement"). But of more importance to her, Sam wants to share the knowledge that built her career wth other artists and creatives here at home. She says she jumped at the chance to hold workshops at Lynn's Lavender because other artist always say, "Oh, I love that place."
